As this year’s Christmas season unfolds, Agege and Orile-Agege residents have been urged to be security conscious, as safety of lives and property require the active support of everybody.
Also, the residents are encouraged to join hands with the government to tackle the lingering security challenges facing the country, as they cannot do it alone.
The call was made by the association during her last meeting while deliberating on ways to ensure residents celebrate the yuletide season in a safe and secured atmosphere.
The Chairman, Association of Agege and Orile-Agege Community Media Practitioners-AGCMAP, Comrade Oloyede S.Kolawole, during the meeting implored his members to be Security Ambassadors in their various communities within Agege and Orile-Agege by preaching tolerance and peaceful coexistence amongst residents.
Oloyede also advised them to ensure they develop cordial relationships with security agencies, community stakeholders, youths and others to collectively ensure communities are safe and free from any security challenges.
The media Practitioners seized the opportunity of its gathering to applaud steps taken so far by the Commander, Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, Csp Yinka Egbeyemi and his team in ensuring Lagos is free from any type of criminal activities.
The command recently conducted a convoy patrol across the state, reached Agege, Oshodi, Mushin, Lagos Island, Lekki and Ikorodu as part of efforts to warn criminals of the squad’s readiness to uphold the laws of the state.
Agege and Orile-Agege were among the communities patrolled by the Squad, in the same spirit, the community media Practitioners in Agege and Orile Agege under the umbrella of’ AGCMAP’ , are also lending their voices in unison to complement the efforts of the Rapid Response Squad.
Oloyede, also stress the need for the residents to partner with the government towards ensuring the security of their lives and property, he noted that it won’t work if they (residents) decide to turn their back on security operatives.
According to him, with yuletide periods fast approaching, which are strategic times with heightened security issues, ‘but before then, we need every resident to understand that security is your own responsibility too- government need you as much as you need government for security of lives and property.’
