The District Governor of Lions Clubs International, District 404B4 Nigeria, Lion Adebowale Afolayan, together with other Cabinet members, have set to bring succour to Nigerians during this 2025/2026 Lion year; by fighting the hunger, prevent diabetes and promote humanitarian services.
The Pharmacist turned District Governor, during the Press briefing at the district secretariat, disclosed that his administration will focus on screening for diabetes and improve the quality of life for those diagnosed with the disease.
Research has shown that over 400 million people are currently living with diabetes and the number may approach 700 million people by 2040. But Lion Afolayan asserted that District 404B4 will take giant strides in changing the picture.
While addressing the journalists, the district governor added that his team will also focus on vision care, hunger relief, youth empowerment, environmental protection, pediatric Cancer, Humanitarian and disaster relief.
He said, ” As a district, we will be on alert to tackle disaster and activate a relief for our communities whenever it strikes. Earlier this year, when there was a disaster in Borno, International Lions Clubs supported that cause with with #17 million. And it will not stop.
“Hunger relief programme will also take chunk of our agenda this year. Food is essential commodity in life and we shall make it available in abundance to the less privileged Nigerians.”
Meanwhile, Lion Adebowale Afolayan enjoined all Lion members to embrace GEEK Principle to drive impactful leadership and services.
