Habiba Charity Foundation has added to its feather of humanitarian services at the Kirikiri Medium Custodian Centre as it donated a beautiful mosque and Adult Educational Centre for inmates and officers.
The Islamic Charity Foundation is working for the welfare of the prison inmates, juveniles, and orphans in Nigeria. It believes that supporting the less privileged is a social responsibility to every good Nigerian.
During the commissioning, Alhaji (Engr) Abdulhameed Omotayo, Founder of Ar Rahman Zakaat Foundation who doubled as the Father of the Day; eulogized the contribution of Habiba Charity Foundation to the development of Custodian centres in Nigeria and advised the inmates to always take care of the facilities provided.
Meanwhile, the founder of the Habiba Charity Foundation, Alhaji (Engr.) Abdulrasheed Sunmola appreciated the supports of the donours, the team and all correctional officers.
While speaking on the projects, Engineer Sunmola commended the Secretary of Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration & Prisons Services Board, Major General (RTD) Abdukmalik Jibril and Controller General of Nigerian Correctional Centres, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche MFR,MNI for their usual support and encouragement to continue supporting the inmates.
”From 2013, our Charity Organisation has been catering for the needs of the inmates at different Correctional Centres across many states in Nigeria. Also, we continually provide for juvenile homes, widows, orphans as well as the elderly before its official registration in 2016.
”Our humanitarian services ranging from skills acquisition Programme to provision of infrastructural facilities, free feeding Programme to borehole projects and many more.
”For the record, we have built many mosques for different Correctional Centres, secured the release of many inmates, established tailoring Centres and barbing saloons, but to mentioned a few.
”Habiba Charity Foundation cannot do it alone. We need all of you and other meaningful Nigerians to support us in this course to serve many less privileged persons out there. Our Charity Organisation assures every donor of accountability and transparency in conducting all our affairs. There is proven evidence of judicious use of resources given to our foundation.”
On the same vein, Ogun State Commissioner For Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye lauded the humanitarian services of the foundation considering what Habiba Charity Foundation has done to several correctional centres in Ogun State and Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home, GRA, Ibara, Abeokuta.
Ogun State Commissioner later encouraged the inmates to maximize the benefits of the structures to uplift themselves.
During the Welcome Address of the Chairman of the occasion and Secretary of Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration & Prisons Services Board, Major General (RTD) Abdukmalik Jibril, he thanked Habiba Charity Foundation for supporting the government in achieving renewed Hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to the inmates.
He called on other non governmental organizations to emulate the humanitarian gestures of Habiba foundation and support correctional centres across the six geo-political zones of the country.
While representing the Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche , Assistant Controller General of Nigerian Correctional Centres in-charge of Zone A,, Ope Fatinikun MNI thanked Habiba Charity Foundation for her regular support and promised to provide more enabling environment for non governmental organisations to contribute immensely to correctional centres in the country.
Recall that Habibat Charity Foundation recently fed over 1,000 residents of Bode, Ibadan North-West Local Government area of Ibadan, Oyo State and residents of Ilaje Otumara community, near Costain, under Lagos Mainland Local Council Development Area of Lagos state.
Other dignitaries at the event are; Deputy Controller incharge of Medium Correctional Centre, DCC Agu Daniel C,, Hon. Lijirin Ruth Ayomide, Senior Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor and other Senior Correctional Officers.
