It was a double celebration on Sunday, 5th November, 2023; for 41st President of Lagos Isolo Lions Club, Lion Mary Richards MJF,NLCF and her husband, Dr Stephen Richards as United States University honoured the couple with Doctorate Degree.
The Award came with the installation of Lion Mary Richards as the new president of the Humanitarian Club along with other Club Officers for 2023/2024 Lion year.
Recall that Mary Richards is the third Female President and poised opportunity for widows and traders to be empowered with grinding machine.
Apart from being the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of DSM Properties, Mary Richards is a dutiful wife, responsible mother and proprietress of a registered school in Lagos.
During the installation ceremony, Mary Richards opined that empowerment of the less privilege is the major cardinal point of her programme.
‘‘I have started well. You can see some grinding machine scheduled to empower the widows and traders. And I will build more on what my predecessor has done. Empowerment is key in Lionism. I am going to empower the needy.
‘’As a proponent of community empowerment, I will use my talent, treasure and time to uplift the needy,’’ she said
The Real Estate Expert cum Lions President added that her administration will also focus on vision, education and diabetes.
‘‘Last Month, we offered free Eye Screening exercise with eye glasses to over 1000 patients within Isolo community. We shall continue to tackle challenges related to vision.
‘‘On fighting the hunger, I have been a pioneer in the Agricultural Sector. I organized farming programme tagged Farm Connect for over 10,000 members to fight hunger. Now, coming to serve, I am introducing new method named Farmers’ Farm to empower many unemployed youths and women to earn and afford something for living.
‘’Aside Health, We are also looking at Housing. We have started empowering the youths on how to make it through real estate and provide affordable housing,’’ she added.
Meanwhile, Dr Stephen Richards advised all husbands to always encourage their wives particularly when the women are hardworking, responsible and putting smiles on the faces of the poor.
