In commemoration of International Day of the Girl Child, with theme, “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-Being,” the Chairperson of Orile Agege LCDA, Mrs. Mojisola Babatunde, exemplified the LCDA’s commitment to girls’ empowerment by distributing sanitary pads to the students of Eko Junior College and Orile Agege Community Junior High School at the school’s venue earlier today, Wednesday, 11th of October, 2023.
This significant initiative reflects the LCDA’s dedication in line with the Executive Chairman’s zeal and love to cater for the future leaders of the community by paying attention to the educational sector of the LCDA which is also to nurture the potential of the girl child and ensure their well-being.
This noble gesture demonstrated the LCDA’s dedication to community development and its recognition of the girl child’s significance in the socio-economic growth of Orile Agege and the world as a whole,Mrs Mojisola in her address encouraged the girls to be of good and high spirit as being a girl child is not a mistake but for a divine purpose.
The Vice Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA , Hon. Akanni-Pedro Oluwatoyin in her address extended her gratitude to Mrs. Mojisola Babatunde for her leadership and vision in driving the girl child initiative, as well as to the school administrators for their support and efforts in grooming the students into becoming a promising and successful women in the future . She also highlighted the significance of believing in themselves, their abilities, and their dreams by having high self-esteem and also encouraged them to shun sexual immoralities.
Mrs Muhammad Ali, the head of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation department urged the girls to nurture their dreams and aspire to become whatever they wish to be. She pointed out the changing landscape of opportunities for women in various career fields, highlighting the increasing presence of women in higher places professionally. They are encouraged to break boundaries and pursue their passions without limitations.
The principal of Orile Agege Community Junior High School and Eko Junior college, Mrs Mumuni M.R and Mrs Rasheed M. respectfully thanked the Chairperson of Orile Agege LCDA, Mrs Babatunde for the kind and uncommon gesture to the girls by celebrating them on a remarkable day as this.They wished all a safe journey back and like Oliver Twist, asked for more from the present administration.
