The District Governor of 404B-4 Nigeria of Lions Clubs International, Lion Samson Abodunrin has revealed that his district will feed over 15, 000 less privileged persons in Lagos, Ogun and Oyo respectively.
Abodunrin stated this at the inaugural Press Briefing held at Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.
He said, ”Don’t forget that Lions Club is a community based Association. In most of the communities, there are Clubs attending to the needs of that particular communities. We shall work with traditional leaders- Obas, Baales, Local Government Chairmen and leaders of the communities. We are targeting about 6, 000 families. The Families will be divided across the 10 regions in District 404B4 Nigeria.
”The Second approach will dwell on school children. Most children in the public schools do have nothing in their stomachs while going to school. Many parents of such children only sent them to school without food. Through this, we are targeting minimum of 6,000 school children.”
While addressing the journalists on the blueprint of his administration, Lion Abodunrin hinted that the district will focus on taming the hunger and empowerment of less privileged persons in the society.
”Our focus is taming the hunger and empowerment of under privileged persons. We believe that hunger, nutrition and wellness are inter-related. According to experts, nutrition is critical part of health and development. Better feeding is related to impute infants, child and maternal health, stronger immune system, safer pregnancies and child birth,” he added.
Abodunrin later urged the Lion memebers to doubled their efforts to alleviate the burden of hunger at every community.
Other notable dignitaries are Immediate past District Governor 404B-1, Lion Kema Ashibuogwu, Cabinet Secretary, Lion(Magistrate) Adeola Olatunbosun, Past Zonal Chair, Lion Ayodele Raji, present and past Region chairpersons, Club presidents and other serving lion members.
