Habiba Charity Foundation donates borehole to Kirikiri Custodian Centre

Habiba Charity Foundation has added more values to  Kirikiri Medium Security Custodian Centre, Apapa, Lagos; as it donated a completed borehole for the use of inmates.

Habiba Charity Foundation is an Islamic charity organization working for the welfare of prison inmates, juveniles and orphans in Nigeria.

During the commissioning of the new borehole, the founder of the Habiba Charity Foundation, engineer Abdulrasheed Sunmola opined that it is important for every Nigerian to assist the government in catering for the welfare of prison inmates.

‘‘With the lapses in our correctional facilities, it is important for private individuals and groups to assist the government in putting up some required structures at Correctional centres. This Charity organization, over the years, has been seeing to the welfare of inmates and it will continue.

‘‘Be we cannot do it alone considering the numbers of areas that need utmost attention. We urge all meaningful Nigerians (Home and abroad) to support our humanitarian drive to reform and rebuild the inmates for better lives,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Controller of Corrections, Mr B.R Freedman represented by DCC Obiozor C.I admonished the charity organization for always coming to the aid of Correctional centres across the country.

He said, ‘‘I know that Habiba Charity Foundation is a household name to all inmates as it has undertaken many projects across Nigerian Correctional Centres. We thank you greatly for this wonderful project too.’’

On the same vein, the head of Kirikiri Medium Security Custodian Centre, DCC Frank Okonkwo appreciated the effort of Habiba Charity Foundation and urged the Islamic charity organization to continue putting smiles on the faces of the inmates.

At the commissioning, Alhaji (Engr) Abdulhameed Omotayo, Founder of Ar Rahman Zakaat Foundation eulogized the contribution of Habiba Charity Foundation to development of Custodian centres in Nigeria and advised the inmates to always take care the facilities provided.

Recall that Habiba Charity Foundation has started the construction of a new central mosque for the inmates of Kirikiri Medium Custodian Centre, Lagos.

The Commissioning flanked many inmates, the mosque Chaplain, Imam Muftaudeen Alade, Public Relations Officer of the centre, CSC Rotimi, Keeper of the Centre, DSC Balogun and welfare Officer of the centre, Mr Jimoh.
