The Indigenes Free Trade Zone Parcel B & Resettlement Communities have denied Barr. Lanre Ogunlesi (SAN) as a lawyer representing the beneficiaries on any case as the communities only engaged a popular Law firm, Ibile Partners to represent their interest anywhere in the country.
Yeguda, Abomiti and Eyin-osa, the different communities are tagged as (Lekki Free Zone Parcel B Resettlement Communities) by the Lagos State Government, and they are the communities displaced by the Lagos State Government who compulsorily acquired their customary lands for the Lekki Free Zone Scheme and consequently compensated them after enumerations by relocated and resettled them on Abomiti, Yeguda and Eyin-osa.
According to the letter written to Barr. Lanre Ogunlesi (SAN) and obtained by our correspondent, the communities denied ever engaging Ogunlesi as a lawyer and affirmed that the legal counsel was only engaged by Quack Surveyor, Onirete of Irete, Oba Ganiyu Olusegun Awokoya (popularly known as Alhaji White) and his cohorts not the families of Yeguda, Abomiti and Eyin-osa.
It reads, “It came to our notice via a letter dated the 19th day of July 2022 written to us through the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperative (letter is hereby attached for emphasis) that you have been referred to as our communities lawyer, particularly in the 2nd paragraph of the said letter which is not only but ridiculous and indeed laughable. You are a lawyer to the Quack Surveyor Awokoya and Oloja of Epe(Oba Kamarudeen Animashaun) and those communities that choose to be with them or Consultant to Mrs Lola Akande (Commissioner for Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives) because we are not going to recognize without Lagos State official letter confirming Olusegun Awokoya as the State Government consultant base on your assertion that ” Surveyor Awokoya ” should be addressed as consultant because we did not actually engaged Awokoya as consultants to our communities.
“We are sure that not until recent litigation, you may not also known that Quack Surveyour Awokoya is not actually licensed and to your understanding that he has been presenting forged or backdated survey to some of the communities in which is not lodge talk less of register them for record copy but wanted 2 plots per acres for doing nothing out of our resettlement land.
“We wish to reiterate without mincing words that we DID NOT AND NEVER WOULD engage and or retain your services and that of your Law firm as our legal representatives for the purpose of this matter at hand because we know you to be Awokoya and Oloja of Epe lawyer and we actually do not want to experience what Lekki Coaster and Epe Lagoon ressetlement is facing for year in which the government have to suspend all the activities there because of Awokoya greedy and conversion of all the land for personal sales.”
The family representatives (Adijat Apena and Chief Obafemi Obajimi) added that all through their negotiations with Lagos State Government and its agencies, they never engaged Ogunlesi’s services talkless after they have received their entitlements from the government.
“We humbly attached, series of letters showned our individuals communities dealing with Land Bureau through our lawyers during enumeration excised and by that, mean those are the lawyers engaged by the individual communities with proper instruction letters. The Ministry of Commerce also mentioned Communities representatives, probably she want to mention the Oloja and Awokoya conniving with Lola Akande Kangaroo Commitee for the 3 Zones, your real clients should at least put you in known that 80% of those who you people registered as trustees for the 3 zones are not actually from the zones , they are mere fronts for Oloja and and whoever within the civil servants, the Quack Surveyor (known as Alhaji White) claiming to be holding our land in trust.
“Let it be known to your firm sir, that we have long retained the services of Ibile Partners who have been acting on our behalf in the light of the above and equally copied in this letter and we desire that further deliberations/correspondences should go through them and no other,” they said.
The indigenes of Parcel B of the Resettlement in Abomiti, Eyin-Osa and Yeguda (Parapo) communities have now warned Barr. Lanre Ogunlesi from parading himself as counsel representing their communities as their was never agreement between the lawyer and the communities.
